The Painted House & More was born on October 1, 2005. I have over 16 years of experience painting in some type of medium. I began my love for interior painting with stenciling with the use of Folkart Paint. I did that technique for several years and even painted for a few people in their homes.
About 6 years ago I became interested in giving freehand painting a try. That was very interesting and I began to read every technique book I could get my hands on. I bought several subscriptions to painting magazines and home decor magazines. I then became familiar with Donna Dewberry's One Stroke Technique. After a few classes were canceled for the One Stroke, I began to purchase as many of Donna's books as I could find. I began the journey of teaching myself this technique.
Again, in the past year and this year I have attempted to enroll in a few classes for the One Stroke, which again were canceled. In my persistence along with my desire to become a certified teacher, I finally found an instructor that would offer this course no matter how many were signed up. I will finally get my chance to earn this credential in September of this year.
I am in hopes this will expand my opportunities to do what I love, make money at it, and teach others this skill. It is funny how much happier you are doing what you love. I want to be able to pass this on to others, even if their intent is to do it for strictly personal use. It still will touch their lives.
I have tried many avenues to sell my wares which include craft malls, consignment shops, craft shows, and the internet. My favorite at this point is the internet. There is so much to learn and that will continue to be an ongoing process. I am working hard to continue to work on expanding my business and learning the tricks of Search Engine Optimization so my gift will reach all of you!
